Summary of the planned partnership
Our planned project is based on the partnership of three elementary schools from three different countries, and affects nearly 1,000 pupils aged between 10 and 15 years in the three institutes. The relationship between the participating institutes dates back for several years. When meeting personally, it turned out that despite the differing givens and the distance, we fight similar problems. Familiarizing with and integrating each other’s methods and experiences, accepting the approach of “learn through teaching” has greatly facilitated us in finding successful solutions and reducing organizational blindness.
Through its programmes, our project named “Treasure Island” facilitates the formation of
the pupils’ proper practice of spending their leisure time. The small steps of fulfilment show our students the wide range of opportunities, the customs and traditions of other nations. The school is transformed into an imaginary island awaiting its hunters of fabulous treasures for the programme’s two years. “Treasure Island Days”, integrating organically in the schools’ lives, provide our students with abundant useful and creative activities which meet their own ranges of interests. The “Treasure Chest” opens at the end of each year, presenting the values created in the programme to the larger community, and giving the possibility to reward those who deserve.
In the framework of PDCA analyses to be performed at the closing of each project phase, changes in the practice of spending the leisure time, and the extent to which the goals are achieved are measured by using questionnaires.
The current programmes and results of the project are published by the participating institutes on their respective web sites, the primary goal of which is ensuring the widespread dissemination.
